A gentleman is referred to as dapper based on appearance. They were not simply well-dressed. There is an extra step or a dapper element that moves one from a nice outfit to dapper status. I venture to claim that step is the details. It is the small things. It is a pocket square. A tie clip. Nice cuff links. It is the added detail that takes a man from well-dressed to dapper. Anyone can be a leader, it takes attention to details to be a dapper leader.
